CHANGE THE CONVERSATION

Healthcare in the United States is based primarily on a reactionary “disease management” philosophy. There is little discussion about health until a disease is present. You deserve more. You are entitled to the knowledge that can empower you to make well informed decisions that affect your well being. We want to give that knowledge to you.

By providing a diverse array of content focused on body, mind, social, and financial health, we aim to give you the tools to determine what is best for your personal health.

OUR MISSION

The National Athletic Healthcare Association, LLC is an evidence-based organization dedicated to improving the health and lives of all individuals and communities through exercise, nutrition, and healthy life patterns. We are an organization that provides information, education, collaboration, and social networking between those that provide health-based resources and those that consume it.

GUIDING PHILOSOPHY

Healthcare in the United States is based primarily on a reactionary “disease management” philosophy. There is little discussion about health until a disease is present. Our goal is to achieve optimized health through education, information, and collaboration. We are starting a social conversation about all forms of health.

YOU ARE AS POWERFUL AS YOU WANT TO BE

NAHA has a social responsibility to consumers, its members and non-members, professionals and non-professionals, and to the public to provide the most up to date and accurate information for the guidance of health in all domains.

THE FOUNDER

As a chiropractor in my early 20s, I saw patients come in everyday with health – related pain, injury, & illness. I recognized early on there would never be a supplement, pill, or procedure that would “fix” most of the health challenges that faced our society.

It was then I realized there were no tools or a centralized place for people to go to for real information and education about health and disease. Fast forward nearly 30 years, medical school, a neurology residency and fellowship later and I recognized many individuals don’t understand what health is or how to achieve it. We discuss the word

“health” only after we have a disease.

As physicians, we are taught extensively about disease, but very little about actual health or how to guide our patients. NAHA was developed for every individual who needs or wants to learn more about health in any of its four domains; body, mind, social and financial. Our goal is to be a global leader in the conversation of health, leaving a positive legacy for generations to come.

Live Healthy,

TAKE THE PLEDGE

I PLEDGE to wake up each and every day and work harder, be smarter, and to live a healthier life. I will strive to make my life a continuous improvement plan.

I am committed to being physically, mentally, socially, and financially healthier. I know I am not perfect and never expect to be. I know the journey is not easy but I will succeed anyway.

I pledge to be a positive example for myself, my family, and my community. I pledge to be a stronger person today than yesterday and to inspire others to follow my lead.

I pledge to make health a daily part of my life.

THE CODE OF METHUSELAH

High in the mountains of the Inyo National Forest in the California White Mountains stands our symbol of strength and perseverance in the greatest conditions of adversity. Named for the biblical patriarch Methuselah, this Great Basin bristlecone pine has not only survived but thrived over 4,850 years in some of the harshest conditions known to become one of the world's oldest living organisms. Ever adapting survival strategies and evolving pathways to change are paramount for health and happiness in all of us. We will succeed regardless of the elements around us, learning to love who we are and celebrating our entire beauty, even if we don't have leaves.

A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER

As a chiropractor in my 20s, I saw daily patients come in with health -related pain, injury, and illness. I recognized early on there would never be a pill, supplement, or even an adjustment that would “fix” most of the health challenges that faced our society. As an athletically inclined individual, I would often tell patients to lose weight or to start exercising, never really giving them the tools to succeed. It was then I also realized there were no tools or a centralized place for people to go to for real information and education about health and disease.

I started the National Athletic Healthcare Association in the pre-internet days of the 1990s while I was in my 20s. I had a plan and passion but unfortunately did not have the skills or connections to put it together. Fast forward nearly 30 years, medical school, and a neurology residency later and it all seemed to come full circle. As a medical director of stroke, I recognized there were many people who simply didn’t understand what health was or how to achieve it. I also recognized as a physician, we were taught extensively about disease, but very little about actual health or how to learn more about it. I, too needed to learn more, wanted to be better personally for myself and family, and wanted to be a better physician with the ability to change lives.

I started the National Athletic Healthcare Association not because I know everything, but simply because I wanted to learn everything. I want to hear the stories, the experiences, the ideas, the opinions, and provide information and resources in a central place we can all go and teach each other. We are an organization with a passion for health, learning, and improving the lives of individuals and communities. We are an evidence -based group with a social mission that our members can rely on.

The NAHA was developed for every individual that needs or wants to learn more about health in any of its four domains, biological, psychological, social, or financial. Our goal is to be a global leader in the conversation of health and hope you will join us in leading this cause for generations to come. Future generations rely on the legacy we start today.

Today is the tomorrow we spoke about yesterday.

Take Our Pledge and Join our Movement. We cannot do this without you.
